DAQ and Signal Conditioning

Overview and Applications

NI 6052E devices use E Series technology to deliver high-

performance, reliable data acquisition (DAQ) capabilities. These

devices are used in a broad variety of applications, including:

• Continuous high-speed data logging at up to 333 kS/s

• Control where synchronization between analog input (AI),

analog output (AO), and counter/timers is required

• Portable data acquisition

• High-voltage and sensor measurements when used with NI

signal conditioning (see page 244)

• High-channel-count system scalability with RTSI or PXI trigger bus

Features

NI 6052E devices feature

temperature-drift-protection circuitry

that minimizes the effect of ambient

temperature changes around the NI

data acquisition device. The

temperature drift on the NI 6052E is

less than 0.0006% of reading per °C,

ensuring accuracy in all environments. These devices also offer

resolution improvement technologies such as dithering to reduce

quantization error. This technology permits NI 16-bit multifunction

DAQ devices to perform with an effective input resolution of at

least 18-bits. For a full description of

188. These devices offer several

methods for connecting signals

including differential for eight

AI channels and maximum noise

elimination, as well as single-ended

and nonreferenced single-ended for

16 AI channels.

NI 6052E devices feature analog

and digital triggering, as well as two

16-bit analog outputs, two 24-bit 20 MHz counter/timers, and

eight digital I/O lines compatible with both 5 V TTL and CMOS.

Portable Conﬁgurations

The NI DAQPad-6052E for FireWire combines the 16-bit

measurement capability of the NI 6052E family with the high-

bandwidth capabilities of the FireWire communication bus to

provide a portable, high-performance, 16-bit DAQ solution. It is

available in two conﬁgurations – mass termination and BNC

termination. Both conﬁgurations feature 250 V functional isolation

from the PC and a low-proﬁle package that ﬁts under your laptop

computer. The BNC model is ideal for applications in which

portability and quick connectivity are needed, such as in-vehicle
